ในปัจจุบัน เราให้ความสำคัญกับเครือข่ายการเรียนรู้ (Learning Network) เป็นอย่างมาก สำหรับมหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ได้สร้างโมเดลการเรียนรู้ขึ้น เรียกว่า Kasetsart University Learning Network : KULN โดยนำทฤษฎีของการจัดการสมัยใหม่ ที่จะต้องหาวิธีการจัดการที่ดี โดยไม่มองง่าตัวเองเป็นศูนย์กลางอย่างเดียว แต่เป็นการมองในลักษณะของพันธมิตร (Alliance) ที่มีหลาย ๆ ส่วนมาทำงานร่วมกันมากขึ้นภารกิจของมหาวิทยาลัย คือการเตรียมนักศึกษาในวันนี้ เพื่อให้เข้าไปรองรับกับระบบงานใหม่ในอนาคต ส่วนจะมีวิธีการอย่างไรนั้น พื้นฐานทาง IT จะเป็นพื้นฐานสำคัญ และเนื่องจากการเรียนรู้ในปัจจุบันนั้นเป็นการเรียนรู้ที่แตกต่างจากอดีตอย่างสิ้นเชิง ซึ่งหมายถึงว่าทักษะ (Skill) ของงานต่าง ๆ กำลังเปลี่ยนแปลงไปและการเปลี่ยนแปลงเหล่านี้ทำให้วิธีการที่เคยใช้เมื่อในอดีตอาจจะไม่พอเพียงสำหรับการเตรียมตัวเด็ก/หรือนักเรียนในอนาคตได้ เนื่องจากการเรียนรู้เหล่านี้ ต่อไปจะต้องเรียนรู้สิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นใหม่ที่เรียกกว่า New Knowledge และถ้าหาก New Knowledge เหล่านั้นวางอยู่ทั่วโลก ที่เรียกว่าเป้น World Know - ledge นับจากวันนี้ต่อไปจะไม่มีอาจารย์คนใดจะสอนนักเรียนได้หมด เพราะความรู้เกิดใหม่อย่างรวดเร็ว และจะต้องศึกษาหาความรู้ในรูปแบบที่เรียกว่า "เป็นการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต"
